Find your VCR Plus +® code online
April, I am not looking to break the code on the VCR Plus deal. I only want to find a place online where I can get codes for
individual programs. James, World
The VCR Plus +® code information is in the Online TV Guide. I'll guide you through the simplest path. The other options are almost
as simple. As you trek through an array of screens, you tell them what program you want by answering questions. Then they give you the
code for that program.
First, TV Guide requests your zip code. Start at the setup screen:
http://www.tvguide.com/listings/setup/localize.aspx and type in your zip
code. Click 'Go' so the software can find your local programming.
The kind of programs you get to watch, however, differs depending on what type of service you have. So the next screen asks you what is
your service type: cable, satellite dish, or broadcast.
Caveat: not all satellite services use VCR codes so the satellite feature may not work.
Let's suppose you're interested in broadcast (because this is the simplest route). In that case, you click
the city you want under Broadcast. Up
pops a screen listing the channels for your city and its broadcast programs for
each channel.
You point
(don't click) your mouse at the listing you're interested in, say 'Snowboarding:
US Grand Prix'. Then a small pop-up appears in a short while. Click 'more
info' at the bottom of this small pop-up screen. The next screen appears and gives you
TV Listings. Click the 'get VCR Plus +® codes'
link. The final screen appears giving you the VCR Plus +® codes for all the
channels for
that listing. Bingo! You're there.
Note: Print editions of the TV Guide and most newspapers also list VCR Plus +® codes.
