Speed of human sight: figure of a dot/electrode circle
 
A 12 x 12 array of dot-electrodes "displays" a picture on the tongue. Each "dot" is an "on" tingle. Paul Bach-Y-Rita's device tingles a
pattern (for example, the square) on the person's tongue. The image can be anything depicted with a 144 pixel resolution.
